Yep, they are there to cater for what Pantone used to do (I'm not sure
they still do it) where they would take a device and "hand tune"
their pallette for it. A very lucrative business for a while
I guess, at thousands of dollars per machine, per media.
Rather obsoleted by color profiles though.
