I think that's only available because they can't fix broken
applications that don't include the source profile; we can.

Soft-proofing is *really* hard to do correctly. Even if we know the
color profile that's going to be used we still only have half of the
story (e.g. paper white, and others). I think it makes a ton of sense
to show the use the color-adapted image in the preview box, but not to
state that it's any kind of reliable soft-proof.
