These images are seldom taken under controlled conditions and it is almost impossible to know if the color information that might be in the meta data of the image is correct and almost none of these images will have a profile embedded. So even with a properly calibrated and profiled display we still don't know if the red we see on the screen is really the red of the actual object. This is also true for most of the content on the web and we have only had color managed browsers for a fairly short time so it will likely be some time before the issue is even close to being largerly resolved.</p>
