[packagekit] configure error while building packagekit from source

Which distribution do you use?

There are Ubuntu packages available:

https://launchpad.net/~packagekit/+archive


Furthermore you did not pay attention to the configure options:
"--prefix= /root" is not the same as "--prefix=/root".
