The short term goal for the Smart backend is to stay bug-compatible  
with the Yum and APT backends...

Currently it uses "noninteractive" when running from within  
PackageKit, and whatever-the-user-has-choosen (usually one of: the  
default frontend "dialog", alternatively "gnome" or "kde") when  
running the regular Smart interface.
