<html><head><style type='text/css'>p { margin: 0; }</style></head><body><div style='font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000'>Hi, I'm looking to figure out a way to run administratively as root gpk-update-viewer, and have it start up on whichever user is logged in.  The problem with this is that PolicyKit will block this process unless the following environmental variables are properly set: DISPLAY DBUS_SESSION XDG_SESSION_COOKIE To get the XDG_SESSION_COOKIE, one must inspect the PID of gnome-session in order to obtain this, which isn't a bulletproof method.
