Summary: Layers and transparency handled incorrectly in Poppler
0.5.4
Product: poppler
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: general
AssignedTo: poppler-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: u.alberton at gmail.com
I've run across this problem when reading a set of PDFs which make some use of
layers and transparency in all three Poppler-based readers (Evince 0.8.3, xpdf
3.01, and kpdf 3.5.5), using Poppler 0.5.4. The problem can be clearly seen in
the last page of the example PDF which will be attached shortly. The chapter
title shouldn't display any gray rectangles, and the stylized dragon image
should appear behind the text in a very light gray color, as opposed to
completely black and blocking the text.
Both Adobe Reader 7.0.9 for Linux and Ghostview 3.6.2 render these "special
effects" correctly. I'll also attach pictures of how it's supposed to look.
