Yes, the PDF file will not crash anymore, as GTK+ now has more sanity checks
(see the original GTK+ bug report). However, it may be a good idea to still
investigate how the negative sized areas happen.

I just noticed that the selection is also redrawn wrong. If one selects a bit
of the map (just click and drag a short distance) and then forces a redraw a
set of selection rectangles appear. These are also visible if one presses
ctrl+a.
