[Portland] xdg-utils first run report

So today I converted an application I work on to use xdg-utils
to create icons for the desktop and for menus.

I was tickled pink. It took about 3 hours, and it worked nicely
on the range of test environments I tried. I was even able to
inject my own version of the xdg-utils script and have it
take precedence over the one I baked in.

Very, very happy, am I.

I hope to share more details on this in a bit.

*But* (what is it with me, I never stay happy!?!?!?!)
I have a few issues, as follows:

xdg-utils is nowhere to be found from the main pages
      on www.freedesktop.org.
I think it rates an entry on this page:
     http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards
    and this one:
     http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software

At the very least I need a landing page that I can feel
certain will not move, so I can point users there.
(This is a key part of the benefit I've always craved.
    The if-you-dont-have-menus-dont-whine-to-me-go-here-instead page <grin>).

I also think that the Menu spec:
    http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards_2fmenu_2dspec
should be changed to prominently point to xdg-utils
and advise developers to use xdg-utils if they can.

I'm willing to do the Wiki editing myself, presuming
no one objects (and presuming I can't con someone else
into doing it <grin>). But the spec edit should probably
done by someone (Waldo?) who has more ownership of that document.

Thoughts?

And, okay, I am still happy. I'm chortling cheerfully to myself
about how easy and nice that was. Thanks to all that helped
bring that about, particularly Kevin and Waldo who did so much work.

Cheers,

Jeremy
