Subject: [Portland] Xdg-utils project renewal
I discovered xdg-utils recently and I had some request to xdg-open
script (namely it should support calling programs with parameters).
Reading last thread it looks like this project is not much active.
The idea of cross-desktop solution for running applications, opening
files, wriring mail, etc. seems very needed to me.
I think I could possibly put some energy into xdg-utils, review patches
and add new features. I am an university student in last year of school.
I have experience with programming in Java, Ruby a bit of C++ and
Python. I do not have direct experience with open source project
guiding, but I think xdg-utils might be a good occassion to learn it and
make cross-desktop interoperability much smoother.
What do you think?
