I've been in contact with David from CiviCRM, and he's been very
helpful. There's lots of potential for improvement, and lots of nice
little projects that we could do (for example, having a Thunderbird or
GAIM plug-in that hooks up to civicrm using their soap interface, or
even a desktop client using SOAP). Also, there's lots of work to be done
on mail/jabber notifications of CiviCRM events.

Another thing which I would really like is the ability to upload an mbox
file and have mails associated with the contacts in their event history.

Anyway, I feel that a web-based approach is the only way we can work in
a distributed project like our, and integration into desktop apps can
come afterwards.
