I'm unable to get surround (5.1) to work with the onboard sound device on
 my
 [http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=709&l4=0&model=2267&modelmenu=1]
 Asus P5Q-E.
In trying to get it work, I followed this
 [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=795525] guide.
I changed the following line ''default-sample-channels = 6'', in the
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf file, but it didn't help (the two front speakers
 were still working though).

lspci | grep Audio, gives me this:
''00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio
 Controller''

 and gives me:

 (attached it as a file)

The "Daemon terminated" thing occured when I pressed "CTRL + C" to abort
 (it hanged).

My OS is Ubuntu (8.04) Hardy heron x64.
