I can't say if this is a problem of Alsa or PA.
However in /var/log/messages i read this:

 Apr 25 09:01:19 localhost pulseaudio[3607]: alsa-util.c: Unable to load
 mixer: Invalid argument
 Apr 25 09:01:22 localhost pulseaudio[3607]: alsa-util.c: Unable to load
 mixer: Invalid argument
 Apr 25 09:01:25 localhost pulseaudio[3634]: pid.c: Daemon already running.
 Apr 25 09:01:39 localhost pulseaudio[3607]: alsa-util.c:
snd_pcm_avail_update() returned a value that is exceptionally large:
1152921504606846216 bytes (418293516406 ms) Most likely this is an ALSA
driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers.

I have Fedora core 10. Audio is on the mainboard, an Asus M3n78 Pro.
 I set "tsche=0" on file /etc/pulse/default.pa
KDE isn't able to recognize integrated soundcard; mixer works only
sometimes. Even Adobe flash player doesn't work when audio doesn't.
