 Thanks guys - this solution works also for the M-Audio 2496.

 The appropriate entry in /lib/udev/rules.d/90-pulseaudio.rules is:

 ATTRS{subsystem_device}=="0xd634",
 ENV{PULSE_PROFILE_SET}="M-Audio_2496.conf"
 }}}

 With M-Audio_2496.conf being per the ews88 one - is it worth making this
 "ICE1712.conf" or similar since it is (or should be) be generic for this
 chipset?
