 Ok, I'm really not having fun with this.  Skype's been offline all day,
 only I didn't know it because it tried to play a noise and then stopped.
 Permanently.  Also, because I've got to kill it using -9, any messages I
 got sent, or sent just before the problem are lost.  Data loss because of
 a sound daemon should never happen.  I don't know whether it's a Skype
 issue or a pulseaudio issue, but something somewhere is still having a
 problem.  This is the 2d94c939575e979132191b59a55d89ed34fa51ed commit, so
 I'm going to have to go back to an even earlier one, which is going to
 take a long time as the problem usually takes over an hour to exhibit
 itself.  I honestly don't know if I'll have a chance to look into this,
 given how much it completely incapacitates skype...
