 From what I've seen the MythTV guys have not made the necessary changes to
 their ALSA implementation to support pulseaudio and other ioplug style
 plugins by using the Safe ALSA API subset.

 Last time I looked there was some pretty arrogant responses from some myth
 people on IRC about it basically telling those who asked politely about
 what they could do to help to basically piss off and not bother even
 trying (not sure if this was an official dev or not). I was very
 disappointed by that response.

 Until the MythTV people actually want to support pulseaudio and work
 within the constructs of a good, safe and portable audio API, there is not
 much we can do :(

 If/when they want to look at this I'll certainly be happy to act as a go-
 between or give advice myself when I can. If I had more time I'd write my
 own support for this.

 Please also note that there is a pulseaudio audio support patch living on
 myth's trac which should work fine (it did the last time I tried it).
