Correction.

The problem with headphones did not fix itself. If I look at output devices in
pavucontrol after I log in, I see Headphones as my current port, yet the sound
comes from the speakers. It takes switching to speakers and then back to
headphones (or unplug headphones and plug them back in) to fix the problem.

Pulseaudio: 1:1.1-0ubuntu15
Alsa-base: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1
Kubuntu: 12.04
Kernel: 3.2.0-24-generic

I have a laptop LG S900-U.CP38R, if that helps.
