            Bug ID: 89237
Summary: Removing mic Breaks Stereo Output
           Product: PulseAudio
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: misc
          Assignee: pulseaudio-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: andy.mckellar at verizon.net
        QA Contact: pulseaudio-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
                CC: lennart at poettering.net

If I remove my microphone (rear plugin), both stereo channels get routed to
both speakers rather than being separated; also, if both channels are
identical, they cancel out and I get nothing. That is to say, if I use the
system "Sound" utility and select a speaker to test, the test sound comes out
of both speakers rather than just left or just right; if I play a game with
monoaural sounds, the game sounds that normally come out of both speakers are
completely muted. Plugging the microphone back in restores normal
functionality, so this is a minor nuisance for now, except I worry about (1) my
microphone breaking and (2) malware listening to my mic (minor issues as well,
I suppose).
