            Bug ID: 89543
Summary: pactl doesn't support setting absolute volume in
                    decibels
           Product: PulseAudio
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: Other
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Keywords: love
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: tools
          Assignee: pulseaudio-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: tanuk at iki.fi
        QA Contact: pulseaudio-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
                CC: lennart at poettering.net

"pactl set-sink-volume somesink -5dB" will reduce the sink volume by 5 dB. What
if the user wants to set the sink volume to exactly -5dB relative to full
volume? That's currently not supported.

A suggestion: parentheses around the value could be interpreted so that the
value should be treated as an absolute value. For example: "pactl
set-sink-volume somesink (-5)dB"
