I'm also affected by this on Ubuntu 12.10 x64.

BTW. I think that audio combining should be the default behavior. It's usually
much simpler and natural for the user to turn on/off the device that should be
playing sound, instead of changing some option. Especially that sometimes (e.g.
playing a game) one can not change settings.</pre>
