Yep that was a problem - after Tanu commented that it looked like bits were
missing I looked through /var/log/messages and found lines about rate limiting
that my grep command had hidden.
I didn't get time to reconfigure rsyslogd yesterday, but will try to get the
debug output tonight.</pre>
