        <pre>Sabayon Linux media-sound/pulseaudio-5.0-r7 resolved my issues.
Now the playback speech-dispatcher mono streams doesn't sound distorted and
loud when volume is no set to 100%; and recording stream of mumble with
echo-cancel module doesn't pick noise.

Looking to the changelog of
<a href="http://packages.gentoo.org/package/media-sound/pulseaudio">http://packages.gentoo.org/package/media-sound/pulseaudio</a> , this seems to be
the patch that resolved my issues
