[pulseaudio-discuss] problem with sdl based applications

When starting an libsdl based application I always get the error:

ALSA lib ../../../src/pcm/pcm.c:2106:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open
shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so
ALSA snd_pcm_open error: No such file or directory
Audio Open Failed

but "ls -la /usr/lib/alsa-lib/ | grep pulse" tells me it should be there:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30792 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_ctl_pulse.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 968 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_ctl_pulse.la
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22264 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_ctl_pulse.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 33588 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_pcm_pulse.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 968 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_pcm_pulse.la
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23992 2007-02-05 12:15 libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so

I'm using libsdl1.2debian-alsa on Ubuntu Feisty.
I know there also is esd output package of sdl but esdcompat fails to
start on all my Ubuntu systems.

Thanks in advance.
