I thought we were onto something there but I don't see anything fancy
on the mounting of /tmp. It is ext2 and all I am doing is noatime.
Can you think of a kernel choice I might have made that can cause
something like this? I am not sure but this problem might coincide
with an upgrade to 2.6.38 (gentoo patches r6).
