Can you rebase these two on git master please? I just merged a whole
bunch of changes from BT guys and these both fail now.

The first patch is easy to rebase, but may need further changes if extra
added code is also needing tweaked so wasn't confident in pushing it.
The second patch failed more and I didn't really look at the reasons much :p
