than a kernel-space ALSA device?<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div>There are a few; the two most important concerns was that we wanted a frontend that was relatively easy to port and the fact that getting code into the kernel can be a lengthy process. Plus, because we don't have to; recent kernel versions provide all the capabilities we need to implement paravirtualized drivers in userspace and this simplifies life both for us and the users.</div>
