Hi!

----

Here comes a small summary of the X11R6.8.2-related items from the
2004-12-03 release-wranglers call:

1. General:
- CVS and xorg-commit maillist are working again - we can resume work on
the "stable" branch starting from today (originally I marked this date
as "Date X" in http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/X11R682ReleasePlan ;
I'll update the Wiki "X11R682ReleasePlan" page tomorrow to reflect the
new schule outlined below)
- We will skip the critical patch nomination phase and simply go
directly over to testing (if anything wents wrong we can either get
workarounds/fixes into the branch or back out the patch which caused the
trouble)
- I'll start committing the already approved patches this weekend and
make a first set of source tarballs available for testing

2. The schedule:
- 8 Dec 2004: The normal patch nomination phase ends
- 13 Dec 2004: Final patch approval - the remaining patches are getting
either approved or rejected in the release-wranglers phone call
- 15 Dec 2004: Final date when all approved patches must be checked in.
After that the Release Canidate 1 will be tagged and source tarballs be
created. More release canidates will follow based on the results of the
testing phase
* Final release is targeted to the 2nd week in January 2005.

3. Next Xorg release wranglers phone call is on monday (6 Dec 2004),
17.00h MET where release-wranglers will go thought the approval queue
again (current triage map is
http://www.nrubsig.org/people/gisburn/work/xorg/x11r682/release_wranglers_20041201/triage_map_20041201.html
- but I expect that more patches will be nominated until monday so the
list will slightly grow).

----

Bye,
Roland
