CVS Update: xc (branch: XORG-RELEASE-1) (fwd)

It was agreed at the conference call this morning that this was
acceptable for the RELEASE branch.  Unfortunately, I can't explain
why those on the call felt this was acceptable but the PPC64 changes
were not - perhaps one of those who objected to them will.
