If you just used ./configure to build you packages, they will be
installed in /usr/local.  To be sure, use command ``which scim'' to see
the exact place of the executable scim.

Yes, but if you install them all in /usr/local, scim-chinese won't work.

(You can choose to use --sysconfdir=/etc or not, it doesn't really
matter.)  And by everything, I mean both scim and scim-chinese.  If you
use scim-tables as well, please also rebuild it.  Then see if it works
or not.
