The patch "Don't wrap dbus-launch around gnome-session, only around gdm-simple-chooser" on <<a href="https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693668">https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693668</a>> stops gdm from interfering. The patches on this bug get the 'systemd --user' started.
