modprobe snd_seq
the seq device should show up in /sys.
$ ls -l /sys/class/sound/{seq,timer}
/sys/class/sound/seq -> ../../devices/virtual/sound/seq
sys/class/sound/timer -> ../../devices/virtual/sound/timer</pre>
