 That does not seem to be the case with systemd-10

I still needed to do
ln -s /lib/systemd/system/serial-getty at .service serial-getty at ttyS0.service
under /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/

the boot params are:

 kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35.4-12.fc14.x86_64 ro init=/bin/systemd
root=LABEL=root console=ttyS0,115200 elevator=noop rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_LVM
rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us
