I think this is the key question here: we have no nice place for this so
far. This is something we really need to thing about so that we can
offer a nice answer.

Maybe ACPI ERST is the right answer here? Unfortunately it doesn't seem
to be supported widely, at least none of my HW has support for that. :-(
