To me, the wrench metaphor says "modify" (as in changing settings) and
not actually designing and building. The wrench just tweaks the nuts
and bolts - perhaps a tool more closely related to designing or
building would be better. I think something like a compass or a hammer
better indicates that the program is actually for creating something.

Maybe it's just the way I've seen these metaphors used in the past,
but that's the way I look at it.
