Yes, that should be tangoish.

You assign later on a value to the button, okey lets say like this:
I choose to call the green button for "Work mail". Then I can assign this color button to all my work mail and knowing the green button stands for "Work mail".

This solution can be used for many things. I want to use it in a list with different kinds of poker tournaments. In the top of the list I describe all the different colors, then just show it in the left margin of every row.
