What I was getting at with "depending which direction" is: do you expect that
TpAutomaticThingFactory will gain functionality to do automatic manufacture for
all object types, or just channels?

I'd tend to vote for "all known object types" (so you'd call it ProxyFactory
and it'll keep gaining GInterfaces over time), but perhaps you can see a reason
not to?
