<div dir="ltr">Hi all,<div><br></div><div>I've been working for some time on a custom shell for Weston (1.2). Some of you may have seen some screencasts i made some months ago [1][2] when working on the shell plugin. Now i've added a custom shell client, made with Qt 5 and QtQuick 2, which talks to the plugin using a custom desktop_shell.xml, based on the one in weston.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Now i'm quite happy with its state, so I though it was time to tell the world about it.</div><div>The goal is to provide a usable, self-contained, shell to Weston, and to see what does Wayland allow to do that X didn't.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Things it has that Weston's shell doesn't:</div><div>* effects like exposè</div><div>* a taskbar with the ability to minimize clients</div><div>* modular ui made of separate widgets/applets/whatyoumaycallit</div>
<div>* graphical configuration tools</div><div>That's it, more or less.</div><div><br></div><div>The code is here: <a href="https://github.com/giucam/orbital">https://github.com/giucam/orbital</a></div><div>The README explains how to build and install it.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I'll soon start focusing more on the server-side again, so expect patches to Weston. ;)</div><div><br></div><div>Hope you like it,</div><div>Giulio</div><div><br></div><div>[1]: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwQfYG8Bm6U">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwQfYG8Bm6U</a></div>
