Your patch was obviously an improvement, so I pushed it. Thanks!

It'd be nice to extend the XCB_EXTENSION macro to auto-generate that
part of the output, and maybe also auto-invoke AC_CONFIG_FILES for
each extension. Perhaps somebody will take that on as a further
improvement.
