LinuxRegistry in free desktops

Hello Avi,

First, congratulations for your project. It is a very interesting
approach that would solve many problems we have today. There is really a
need for such a uniform, simple but efficient way to set configuration
values. There would be a lot of advantages to have it in Linux.

It would also fit perfectly fit with most desktops (and their config
daemon if any).

I only see two minor problems with your current impl.

1) Keys are not documented. Actually, a lot of config files may contain
comments. And this is often usefull. I think LR should specify/provide a
way to add comments to each domain or each key. I don't have yet idea
how it could be nicely done.

2) Key names rely on the FS. And the FS can have constraints on the
filenames. It is not a problem in most cases but could be one with very
long keys or non-ascii ones.

Also, do you have a Java Preferences impl for it ?

Regards, Guillaume

PS: Please ignore those shouting guys that type before thinking and can
not simply discuss pro and cons.
