D-Bus activation from desktop files

Where can I read about the reasons for implementing this feature? I
think I read something in a summary about the summit, but it was quite
vague. Are there docs about it?
(I can't see any problem with doing that, but also no immediate
benefit (maybe simplification later, since many apps become
DBus-activated))
