After upgrading to xorg 6.8.0 (installed with Gentoo ebuild) I noticed some
graphic glitches in font rendering, and yesterday casually I've discovered that
they are caused by Render Acceleration, and they disappear if I set Option
"RenderAccel" "Off" in my xorg.conf. I have a Radeon 7500 (detected as ATI
Radeon 7500 QW (AGP/PCI)).
Here are some screenshots that show the problem, especially manifest with Ximian
Openoffice but it affects with minor evidence almost every other gtk2
application (mainly black vertical 1-pixel wide lines on the right side of the
types).
