In my case the problem isn't the 255 limit. On a fresh login I use ~18 and ~30
seems be enough to fill my needs.

The problem is that just leaving the computer on, not tuching it, produces some
kind of leakage. Changing the limit to 512 would only buy me about 3 days of
uptime.
