Very often these days OOPs data is too long to fit on a 80×25 screen.
If the system console could safely use whatever video mode allows to
cram as much data as possible on the screen you'd catch a lot more
problems.

Another problem is screens that blank after a while to save energy and
can not be woken up to display oops data (because the system is toast).
Again if it can safely be done disabling DPMS on oops would help a lot.
