i810/i915GM: Unrecognized deviceID 2592

Running Fedora 4 on a Dell D410 with i810_drv.o
Xorg.0.log confirms that DRI is enabled but it is not.

glxinfo gives me:

>glxinfo
Unrecognized deviceID 2592
name of display: :0.0
display: :0  screen: 0
direct rendering: No
server glx verdor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
...

Running programs that want acceleration gives the
"Unrecognized deviceID 2592"
message and either total failure or slow graphics.

I get the same result using the version 1.3.0 i810_drv.o that comes with 
the current fedora kernel (2.6.14-1.1653_FC4) and using Alan Hourihane's 
version 1.5.192 from http://www.fairlite.demon.co.uk/intel.html.
