Intel 845G chipset and xorg 7.0

Debian is changing from XFree86 to xorg with the new "Etch" release. I
had been able to get the normal resolution modes by using 915resolution
and the modified driver from fairlite.
Now that I upgraded to xorg 7.0 the driver is not accepted and the
915resolution doesn't seem to do anything useful. I'm not trying to get
an unusual mode but merely the modes specified in the BIOS.
Attached are important files and logs.

'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.' (Martin Niemöller)
