intel 965GM 3D problems

The same problem affects me and others. A bug has been filed in ubuntu

http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/124023

but with no resolution in sight. It is pretty bad, considering that pymol is a
critical tool for many bio-scientists.
