Window manager problem

I am writing an application for a remote client which maintains a more 
or less real-time GUI of all the windows on the server. It also allows 
the client to open new windows and expects the window ID and attributes 
to be returned. When a window manager is running, which is the normal 
case, it reparents the new window later, unless the window has override 
redirect set. Is there some call to get the window manager to reparent 
the window immediately?
