For my own use, some time ago I've setup a live mirror of xkeyboard-config:

  http://git.infradead.org/?p=users/bernie/xkbdesc.git

I'm attaching the cron job I use to synchronize it.  I guess it would be
useful to move it on git.freedesktop.org useful so distro packagers can
find all the X related repositories in a single place.

For safety, I'd suggest making it read-only and making it clear from the
description that this is just a mirror.
