I was bitten by this too.
Even make distclean && autogen.sh didn't help I think.

I removed all files, and restored them from git, this did help,
there is a patch that removes a redundant copy of xf86cvt.c
(xfree86/common/xf86cvt.c), plus modifies the .am automake files,
and probably normal makefiles aren't updated.

Btw, with -git the xrandr crashes the X, and without any trace in logs.
I bisect tomorrow this.
