Most users of open source today use pre-made binary packages. The users
let the package builders/maintainers do all the hardwork of getting their
packages to build and work correctly with the other packages provided by
their distribution (or Unix flavour).

As for your other comments, I didn't read what specific distribution or
source of your packages and dependencies came from. It may be problems
specific to that.
